The Stars! Encyclopedia
a project from the Stars! Directory

Welcome to the Stars! Encyclopedia.  This child-site of the Stars! Directory is almost completely generated by an automated HTML generator (written by yours truly). That program program is for the most part finished, though I occasionally do make updates to it.  The goal of the site is to provide a link-able index of all commonly used Stars! and Stars! Supernova Genesis terms so that players have an easy reference to their definitions.

I strongly encourage (need is more like it) people to submit entries for the Encyclopedia.  The ideal format for me is a text file in this format:

FIRST ENTRY NAME <Carriage Return (i.e. "Enter")>
FIRST ENTRY ALT NAME <Carriage Return>
FIRST ENTRY TEXT<Carriage Return>
SECOND ENTRY NAME <Carriage Return>
SECOND ENTRY ALT NAME <Carriage Return>
.
.
.

LAST ENTRY NAME <Carriage Return>
LAST ENTRY ALT NAME <Carriage Return>
LAST ENTRY TEXT <End of file>

Example:
Lathrop, Art
Art Lathrop
Webmaster for the Stars! Directory.
Pocket Battleship
Pocket BB***"Pocket" Battleship***"Pocket" BB
Originally used to refer to a battleship armed with 12 jihads, that had the added advantage of not showing up as a capital ship. Occasionally, the term is used to refer to any battleship using 12 missiles and 8 sappers.
Eff

Short for efficiency.
End of Example

If you decide to submit entries in this format, please do submit them as a separate text file (and not as part of an email message).  This is simply because most email programs add carriage returns to messages to make them easier to read on old browsers.

Please note that the "entry text" should not have a carriage return character in it (don't hit enter).  Instead use "<br>" to end the line.  The ALT NAME is the alternative name for the entry.  This should be used only for small variations in spellings or plurals beyond a simple "-s" or "-es" (for example "hyper-growth" has an alt name of "hypergrowth" and "factory" would have "factories").  Do not use ALT NAME for abbreviations.  Abbreviations get separate entries.  You do not need to have an ALT NAME.  Just leave the line blank (no spaces, just a carriage return).  If for some strange reason there should be more than one ALT NAME, type both names on the same line with (and only with) "***" separating them.  Do not include any spaces! ALT NAME's nor ENTRY NAME's should NOT have spaces after them.

The text can have HTML formatting too.  If you don't want to send me an article in that format, just type it as a simple text message and I can copy and paste the entry into the Encyclopedia editor.

I am have tried to include example entries on things I am looking for (such as people, websites, terms, abbreviations, etc).  Entries can be much more detailed than the examples I have provided and you are free to submit new articles to replace those that I have already written.
